Non-surgical skin tightening has become the way many men and women are turning back the clock on their appearance without anesthesia or scarring. With a variety of options available, it can be difficult to know which procedure will provide you with the best results. At Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinics, our staff provides different choices in skin tightening so that we can cater to your precise needs. One of our latest offerings is an innovative skin tightening treatment known as Pelleve.

The Power of RF Energy

Pelleve does not use laser energy. Instead, this procedure delivers radiofrequency energy into the underlying dermal layers. The RF energy heats the lower layers, leading to the production of collagen and elastin. These two substances are found in abundance in the skin during our younger years, giving skin its firmness and elasticity. As we age, collagen and elastin levels become depleted, causing skin laxity and the formation of wrinkles.

Because the RF energy used during a Pelleve treatment stimulates the production of these essential substances, it can also reverse the signs of aging on the skin. You will see your skin become firmer over time while lines and wrinkles gently smooth away. Results are both natural and long-lasting, with most of our patients enjoying their refreshed appearance for many months.

Comfort Level

Compared to laser treatments that offer similar anti-aging benefits, Pelleve is a comfortable procedure that does not require any type ofanesthesia. Prior to laser treatments, patients are typically given either a localanesthetic or topical numbing cream to ensure the procedure is tolerable. Neither is required for Pelleve, which patients have even described as a relaxing stone massage.

Some laser procedures cause the skin to flake and peel for a number of days afterward, which may be uncomfortable and can make you self-conscious about showing your face in public during that time. This is not the case with Pelleve.

After your Pelleve treatment, you can return to your regular activities immediately. Skin may be slightly pink or red for a period of time after your procedure, but this will usually subside on its own by the end of your treatment day. In many cases, the redness dissipates within the first 30 to 90 minutes following treatment.

Getting Results

There are several laser procedures that can offer you dramatic results after just a single treatment session. Pelleve tends to produce the best results after a series of three to five treatment sessions, spaced about four weeks apart. While you will see improvement after each session, you may not enjoy your full results for a number of months as additional procedures are performed and your body goes to work replenishing your collagen and elastin supply.

Laser procedures are sometimes restricted as to the range of skin tones they treat, but Pelleve provides similar results on any skin tone and can even work effectively on tanned skin.

Is Pelleve Right for You?

While Pelleve offers a number of benefits for the right patient, it may not be the perfect choice for everyone. Fortunately, Dr. Birchall and the staff at Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinics offer both Pelleve and other forms of non-surgical skin tightening so we can offer you the best possible results.
