If you have lost weight through diet and exercise but still have extra, unsightly pounds that refuse to respond, then you might want to consider a laser liposuction treatment. Diet and exercise are healthy ways to lose weight — and to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Still, on their own, they are often not the best tools to obtain a sculpted body. This is because not all fat will respond to diet and exercise equally, leaving you with extra fat you can’t lose and ruining your look despite your best efforts.
Laser Liposuction is a procedure used to solve this issue. During a Laser Lipo procedure, Dr. Birchall will specifically target and remove the fat you want to lose, slimming you and giving you a better tone and contour. Coupled with a healthy lifestyle, Laser Lipo can give you the look you want and that you’ve been working hard to achieve.
Like all medical procedures, Laser Lipo has a few contraindications that may exclude you from having the procedure. Below are the individuals who cannot undergo the treatment:
If these factors form a part of your medical history, talk to Dr. Birchall about whether you can have Laser Lipo or if there are possible alternatives to achieve a similar result.
Laser Lipo (SmartLipo Triplex) improves the cosmetic appearance of the body by selectively removing subcutaneous fat from key regions of the body, achieving results similar to traditional liposuction. But unlike traditional liposuction, Laser Assisted Body Contouring doesn’t just remove unwanted fat – the laser also provides skin tightening, reducing sagging and creating a smoothly contoured surface.
Dermacare uses an advanced laser body sculpting system called SmartLipo Triplex, which features a unique fat “melting” laser that gently liquefies fat. Through a few tiny incisions, the liquefied fat is then removed from the body with a medical suction device. Additionally, the laser is effective in causing small blood vessels to coagulate immediately, reducing bleeding, swelling, and bruising.
Because of the small size of the fiber optic tip, laser-assisted liposuction has become the new standard for treating a greater number of hard-to-reach areas of the body, providing results that other systems simply cannot. Because Laser Lipo is also gentle on the body, we use only local anesthesia, allowing you to stay awake and quickly resume your normal daily activities.
Not all laser liposuction machines are created equal. Most laser liposuction machines today use a 1064nm or 1320nm laser wavelength (e.g., SmartLipo Triplex). Dermacare utilizes the most advanced technology, which is five times as selectively absorbed by fat and five times as selectively absorbed by the blood, making it significantly more effective than other laser liposuction alternatives. This means that during the same length of procedure, you can expect substantially more results compared to other forms of liposuction, which significantly extends your investment in both cost and time.
Typically, the recovery time is a fraction of that of traditional liposuction. Most procedures will take one to three hours, and patients will go home the same day. Patients usually experience bruising, swelling, and slight discomfort following the Laser Lipo treatment. Individuals may need to wear a compression garment for a few days to reduce the side effects.
Work can usually be resumed the second day after the procedure, but strenuous activity should be postponed for a week or two after the treatment. Overall, recovery is moderately short and painless. However, recovery from any procedure depends on the patient. While most customers recover quickly from Laser Lipo, you should always follow Dr. Birchall’s advice carefully and listen to your own body, taking the first few days to relax while your initial side effects subside.
Remember that any medical procedure carries a degree of risk, and Laser Lipo is no exception. However, the less invasive laser liposuction method reduces much of the risk generally associated with traditional liposuction. The most common risks include infection, bleeding, swelling, bruising, and discomfort. In rare cases, irregular skin contours or pigmentation can occur. Even rarer are life-threatening complications such as blood clots and heart complications. To prevent this from happening, you should stay in touch with Dr. Birchall and respect his post-op instructions.
As Dr. Birchall will have explained to you during your consultation process, Laser Lipo is not intended to help clients achieve dramatic weight loss. These goals must be achieved through other means. However, Laser Lipo is extremely effective at sculpting and toning the body, and despite the normal and temporary swelling accompanying your procedure, you will see your results almost immediately. However, final results are observable within four to six weeks, depending on your body shape and type.
Patients will also have some limitations regarding how much fat can be removed during a single Laser Lipo procedure – these limits help ensure your safety, so they cannot be negotiated. Dr. Birchall will remove as much fat during your Laser Lipo procedures as is safe, ensuring that you leave with each treated area looking its best and working with your stated goals in mind. Once results are obtained, the effects are permanent, provided you couple them with a healthy lifestyle and maintenance treatments.

Laser Lipo gives individuals all the advantages of a traditional liposuction treatment — including a slimmer, more toned body with better contours — while offering them a qualitatively better procedure and recovery. The specific advantages of Laser Lipo also include:
Laser Lipo represents the next generation in liposuction technology, with benefits for our clients that improve every aspect of their experience, from the procedures to their recovery and results.
On the day of the procedure, the treatment area is marked, and pictures are taken. In some cases, you could be given a mild sedative to make the experience more comfortable. After local numbing is done at the predetermined sites, small, concealable incisions are made. A long, narrow tube will be inserted and used through these openings. The first step is to infuse a dilute anesthetic fluid throughout the area of concern. The second tube is for the laser, which liquefies the fat in the targeted area. Finally, the melted fat is eliminated through a medical suction device.
Once fat has been removed, and you’ve had some time to recover, you should look and feel slimmer and more toned. For most clients, this does translate into smaller clothing sizes but depending on how and where your body stores fat, you may experience a substantial new look that does not require a whole new wardrobe.
