Fillers and Injectable Treatments
Our med spa in Mission Valley offers expert injection services to smooth wrinkles and enhance your natural beauty. We provide Botox, natural face fillers, and lip fillers and other injectable treatments tailored to each patient’s goals. With dermal fillers, our professional team uses the right combination of techniques to achieve natural, balanced results. Botox
Botox is a purified protein that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for expression lines. When injected in small amounts into targeted muscles, it softens lines that form when you move your face — frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead creases, crow’s feet around the eyes. It doesn’t affect how your face looks at rest, and it doesn’t change your features. Results typically last 3–4 months, after which the muscle activity gradually returns and retreatment is needed to maintain results.
Dysport
Dysport works the same way Botox does — it’s also a neuromodulator that relaxes muscles to reduce dynamic wrinkles. The formulation is slightly different, which gives it a marginally faster onset and a tendency to spread a bit more from the injection site. In practice, most patients don’t notice a meaningful difference between the two. Some providers prefer one over the other for specific treatment areas; your injector will recommend whichever is better suited to your anatomy and goals.
Juvederm
JUVÉDERM is a family of hyaluronic acid fillers — hyaluronic acid is a substance your body already produces naturally, which is part of why these fillers integrate smoothly and feel soft. Different formulations within the JUVÉDERM line are designed for different purposes: adding volume to the lips, restoring fullness in the cheeks, or softening deep folds like the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Results typically last 6–18 months depending on the product and area treated. Because hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, they’re often a good starting point for patients new to fillers.
Restylane
Restylane is another hyaluronic acid filler family, similar in composition to JUVÉDERM but with a slightly different texture and behavior in the tissue. Restylane is commonly used for lip enhancement and under-eye hollowing — areas where a softer, more precise filler is ideal. Restylane Lyft is a firmer formulation designed for adding volume to the cheeks and midface, and it’s also FDA-approved for hand rejuvenation. Like JUVÉDERM, results are temporary and reversible.
Sculptra
Sculptra works fundamentally differently from hyaluronic acid fillers. Rather than adding volume directly, it stimulates your body to produce its own collagen over time. It’s made from poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible material that gradually breaks down in the tissue while triggering a collagen-building response. The results build slowly over several months and tend to look very natural because your own tissue is doing the work. Sculptra is typically used for patients who want overall facial rejuvenation — restoring the gradual volume loss that comes with aging — rather than targeted correction of a specific area. Results can last two or more years.
Radiesse
Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite filler — a thicker, denser material than hyaluronic acid, which makes it well-suited for deeper lines and areas that need more structural support. It’s commonly used for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jawline definition, and hand rejuvenation (volume loss in the hands is one of the more visible signs of aging, and Radiesse is FDA-approved for that indication). It also has a collagen-stimulating effect, so some of the result persists even after the filler itself has broken down. Radiesse is not reversible with hyaluronidase, so it’s important to have it placed by an experienced injector.
Bellafill
Bellafill is a long-lasting filler made from a combination of bovine collagen and PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate) microspheres. The collagen provides immediate volume, and the microspheres act as a scaffold that supports long-term structure — which is why Bellafill results can last five years or more. It’s FDA-approved for smile lines and for acne scars, where it’s used to lift depressed scars and create a smoother surface. Because it’s not easily reversible and lasts significantly longer than other fillers, a skin test is required before treatment to check for collagen sensitivity, and placement requires a skilled, experienced injector.
Belotero Balance
Belotero Balance is a hyaluronic acid filler on the softer end of the spectrum, designed specifically for fine, superficial lines — the kind that sit close to the surface of the skin where thicker fillers would be too stiff or visible. It integrates particularly well in delicate areas like the vertical lines around the lips, fine lines under the eyes, and other areas where you want correction without adding volume or creating a filled appearance. It’s reversible, like other hyaluronic acid fillers.
Kybella
Kybella is an injectable treatment specifically for reducing fat under the chin — what’s commonly called a double chin. It’s made from deoxycholic acid, a molecule your body naturally produces to break down dietary fat. When injected into the submental area, it destroys fat cells permanently. The body then clears the treated cells over the following weeks. Most patients need 2–4 sessions spaced about a month apart, and there’s noticeable swelling in the treatment area for several days after each session. Once the fat cells are destroyed, they don’t return — so results are long-lasting as long as weight remains stable.
Skin Resurfacing
These treatments improve skin texture, tone, and clarity, often with little to no downtime.
Microneedling and PRP
Microneedling with PRP creates thousands of tiny micro-channels in the skin, which triggers your body’s natural healing response and stimulates new collagen. When combined with PRP — platelet-rich plasma drawn from a small sample of your own blood — that healing response is amplified. It’s particularly effective for acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, and general skin texture. Expect some redness for 24–48 hours afterward.
Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels use exfoliating acids to remove the outer layer of skin, revealing fresher skin underneath. The depth of the peel determines how much downtime is involved — a light peel might cause some flaking for a few days, while a deeper peel means more peeling and a longer recovery. Your esthetician will match the peel to your skin and your schedule.
Microdermabrasion For Fine Lines, Sun Damage, and Texture Concerns
Microdermabrasion is a physical exfoliation treatment — a device buffs away dead skin cells to improve texture and brightness. It’s gentle, requires no downtime, and works well for patients who want a refresh without committing to a more intensive treatment.

Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser energy breaks up ink particles so your immune system can gradually clear them. Darker inks (black, dark blue) respond best. Colors like green and yellow take longer. The number of sessions varies based on the tattoo’s size, ink depth, and how old it is.
Laser Vein Treatment

The Story: From Beatitude to Dermacare Mission Valley
Dr. Aeria Chang founded Beatitude Aesthetic Medicine in San Diego in 2008. For nearly two decades, she built a practice known for careful technique, natural results, and long-term patient relationships. She immigrated from South Korea in 1975 and her approach to aesthetics reflects that background — understated, precise, and focused on results that age well rather than announce themselves.
Over the years, Dr. Chang became an early adopter of technologies that are now standard in the field: Fraxel DUAL, Ulthera, fractional and RF needling, radiofrequency tightening, and body contouring devices. She also earned Allergan’s Platinum Plus Injector status, which reflects both volume and clinical outcomes at the highest tier nationally.
In 2024, Beatitude joined the Dermacare network and became Dermacare Mission Valley. Dr. Chang continues to practice here. Her philosophy hasn’t changed: restore what’s been lost gradually, work with each person’s features rather than against them, and prioritize results that look appropriate — not overdone.

Dr. Aeria Chang, M.D. • Founder of Beatitude, Physician
Dr. Chang founded Beatitude Aesthetic Medicine in San Diego in 2008 and has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years. She graduated from Boston University School of Medicine and completed her training at Brown University’s Rhode Island Hospital.
Her approach is rooted in subtlety — results that make you look like yourself, not like someone who’s had work done. She was an early adopter of many technologies now standard in aesthetic medicine, and she holds fellowships across laser medicine and integrative holistic medicine, as well as Allergan’s Platinum Plus Injector designation.
When Beatitude joined the Dermacare network, Dr. Chang stayed. If you were a Beatitude patient, you’re still seeing the same doctor.
