With fall in full swing, you might be looking for ways to celebrate the season in the San Diego area. While fall may look a bit different in California than other areas of the country, there are plenty of activities to help you get into the autumn mood. Check out these suggestions from Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinics to help you make the most of those fleeting fall months.

Celebrate Day of the Dead

One of the best places to celebrate Dia de los Muertos is in Old Town San Diego. The rich history of the area, coupled with a variety of unique activities, gives residents and visitors alike a taste of the authentic culture and heritage that surrounds this event. Enjoy the traditional marketplace, take a tour of the altars of remembrance or participate in the candlelight procession. Guests can also indulge in face painting, where artists will create the traditional, colorful skulls representative of the celebration. The celebration runs October 29-November 2 in Mission Valley and Old Town.

Spend a Day at the Races

Del Mar puts on its own fall celebration with the Bing Crosby Meet from November 11-December 4. This event features live music, plenty of good food and drink and other presentations in addition to the daily race schedule. The festival even includes special activities on Thanksgiving Day, including a 3-course brunch or dinner and bottomless mimosas or champagne. The Craft Beer, Cider & Food Truck Festival on November 26 is another popular draw during the meet, with more than 100 different kinds of craft beers and seasonal ciders and 30 unique food trucks.

Enjoy Good Wine and Great Food

The 13th Annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival returns to Embarcadero Marina Park North on November 14-20. This year brings a host of new events featuring all new food and drink selections. Celebrity chefs like Rick Bayless, Michelle Bernstein and The Hearty Boys will be on hand to whip up some culinary creations as well as a huge variety of local chefs. Guests will also get the chance to meet an array of winemakers and brew masters, as well as sample some of their latest masterpieces. This festival is sure to get you and your taste buds ready for the grandest Thanksgiving feast you have ever created.

Catch Some Live Music

Dance until you drop at the 37th annual San Diego Jazz Fest, running November 23-27. The event, held at the Town & Country Hotel and Convention Center, features some of the best local names in jazz music today as well as a few bands from across the country and across the globe. In addition to a wide variety of music, guests can enjoy a broad array of food and drink and even a few dance classes. Check out a new group in an intimate listening room or head to one of the larger venues where you can dance the night away.

Take a Step Back in Time

Take a trip through time by traveling just an hour east of San Diego to the mountain getaway known as Julian. This quaint town features stores nestled in historic buildings that date back to the 19th century, as well as places to hike and dine to your heart’s content. Take a carriage ride through the center of town or spend the day exploring the area where the Gold Rush started. The town also features a Country Christmas on November 26, complete with Christmas Carols, spiced cider and a visit with Santa Claus.
