Many men and women of all ages struggle with dull, lifeless skin, which often causes them to look tired, worn out, and older than they truly are. Getting to the root cause of this issue rather than covering your face with makeup can provide you with a radiant glow that you never knew you could achieve. At Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinics, we offer chemical peels and VI peels to liven your skin up, increase your confidence, and enhance your natural beauty.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell what kind of treatment your skin actually needs, so coming in for a consultation can help determine the peel that is right for you. Both chemical peels and VI peels are used to combat and reverse the signs of aging, but let’s break it down a bit to see what is involved with the peels offered at Dermacare San Diego.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is an outpatient procedure where a chemical solution is applied to the face to exfoliate and smooth the skin. The solution is left on the skin for a few minutes, though in some cases, it can be left on longer, as it self-neutralizes. During the procedure, patients may feel a warmth or mild stinging, which dissipates shortly after. The chemical peel solution is then removed. Your skin will begin to flake over the next few days to reveal new, fresh and radiant skin.

Chemical peels can:

  • Reduce lines and wrinkles
  • Improve acne
  • Diminish scars
  • Address hyperpigmentation
  • Increase and improve skin texture

This skin rejuvenation treatment is suitable for all skin types and tones. We offer the SkinMedica® collection of peels, all of which are designed to address wrinkles, lines, and other skin imperfections of varying degrees.

What Is a VI Peel?

A unique blend of ingredients is used in the VI peel to eliminate the signs of aging, like wrinkles and fine lines, as well as pigmentation issues on the face, chest, arms, and hands. At Dermacare San Diego, we offer the Precision Peel, which is comprised of a higher concentration of ingredients that work better for more advanced aging skin. Both of these VI peels stimulate collagen production to provide patients with firmer, clearer, more youthful skin.

What’s Next?

As with any cosmetic treatment, your consultation is one of the most important aspects of you achieving the skin you desire. During your consultation, our skin specialist will determine the type of peel that is suited for your skin type, goals, and desires. You will also be given a customized treatment plan that will tell you how often you should come in for maintenance treatments along with whether there are other services that may complement your peel results.
