Pellevé
This treatment is offered in Rancho Bernardo
As women and men age, their skin loses its elasticity and support as the production of collagen and elastin decreases. This ultimately leads to sagging skin, wrinkles, and other signs of aging that make you look older.
Treatments like Pellevé help your skin look smoother and tighter without hurting the top layer of your skin.
If you are experiencing signs of aging and want to regain a youthful appearance, our providers at Dermacare can schedule a Pellevé appointment for you.
Candidates for Pellevé
Pellevé is ideal for men and women with all skin types. It is recommended for patients in their 30s to 60s, as they have mild to moderate skin sagging but still some degree of elasticity.
Unlike some other laser treatments, Pellevé is gentle on the skin and is safe to use all year round, regardless of tanned skin. Consider choosing Pellevé if you have the following concerns:
- Mild to moderate skin sagging
- Fine lines and wrinkles on the face
- Chest and hand wrinkles
- Skin texture issues, such as enlarged pores
One thing to remember is that while Pellevé triggers skin cell renewal, it does not target pigment within the skin. Due to this, it is not the ideal treatment for addressing hyperpigmentation or age spots. Still, this feature is what makes it a suitable choice for treating darker skin tones.
You may also not be a good candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have electronic or metal implants, or have any active infections. Some medications can also cause extra sensitivity, so make sure to inform our providers before treatment begins.
It’s best to contact Dermacare for an appointment so we can examine your skin. During your complimentary consultation, we can better determine if Pellevé is the right treatment to achieve your aesthetic goals.
How Pellevé Works
The Pellevé system uses safe radio waves to gently warm the deeper layers of your skin to about 102–108°F.
Over time, this stimulates the body’s natural production of new collagen.
The procedure is mostly used to address mild to moderate skin sagging, along with wrinkles and fine lines, to give you a more youthful look. Some 30, 60, and 90 days after treatment, your body is still working to naturally produce new collagen.
During the procedure, Dr. Birchall, or another Dermacare provider, glides a handpiece over the surface of the skin, which delivers controlled heating without breaking the skin. This makes tiny, safe injuries deep in the skin that don’t cause harm, but tell your body it’s time to start healing.
This wakes up special skin cells called fibroblasts, which then make more collagen and elastin to help your skin stay firm and smooth.
The procedure also improves microcirculation, aiding skin health.
Treating the entire face takes anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes. If you would like a specific area treated (e.g., the delicate areas around your eyes, forehead, or smile lines), your procedure could be completed in as little as 30 minutes!
Because the collagen rebuilding process continues to work for days, weeks, and even months after the procedure, a series of treatments is required for the best results.
Pellevé Recovery
Pellevé is a comfortable, safe treatment that doesn’t have any downtime. After the procedure, you might experience slight redness, which is caused by your skin’s elevated temperature during treatment and will subside soon afterwards.
The skin may also feel a bit warm and prickly, but the sensation does not last long. It rarely takes more than 24 hours for the skin to return to normal.
We recommend you use a mild cleanser and apply a gentle moisturizer to soothe the skin and protect the barrier. The skin may still hold a certain degree of sensitivity, so use broad-spectrum SPF over 30+ and steer clear of harsh skincare routines for the next few days, as they can irritate the skin.
Although you can apply makeup immediately (unless there’s irritation), keep it light and make sure your brushes are clean. Mineral products are recommended, as they’re easy on the skin. Stay away from saunas, hot baths, and hot environments for a few days, as the sweating can make the irritation worse.
The skin is generally considered “fully healed” after two to three days. That said, the effects are working even if the redness is no longer visible, with the collagen building over the next few months.
Pellevé Results
Many patients notice a firmer sensation and skin tightening right after the procedure. This is thanks to the collagen contracting in response to the healing. However, noticeable improvement occurs after about four weeks, once the new collagen fibers have begun to mature.
Final results can be enjoyed about three to six months post-treatment, depending on the starting condition of your skin. The wrinkles should be less pronounced, sagging should improve, and many patients also notice skin texture improvement. You can make the most of these results by using HA-based medical-grade skincare and wearing broad-spectrum sunblock.
About three to five treatments, set four weeks apart, are recommended to boost the collagen rebuilding process. We will develop a unique treatment plan designed specifically for you during your consultation.

Does the Pellevé Treatment Hurt?
Should I Prepare in Any Way for the Treatment?
When Can I Go Back to My Usual Activities?
Pellevé does not have lasting side effects, and most of the redness subsides within a few hours. You can apply makeup immediately after the treatment, but we still recommend you give the skin a couple of hours to breathe. There aren’t any restrictions to UV exposure in particular, although we do recommend you wear broad-spectrum sunblock.
