Red light, green light, yellow light, blue! Blue light therapy uses a light-emitting diode to help with different conditions, especially those that affect the skin. Blue light therapy emits light wavelengths in the 400 nanometers range, which means it is good for lighter, thinner skin lesions and P. acne bacteria as it does not penetrate deep into the skin like other light therapies do. Blue light therapy is best for treating acne, and in some cases, it has been known to help with psoriasis and eczema.

Phototherapy treatment is perfect for addressing skin concerns that cause both men and women to feel self-conscious. At Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinics, we use BLU-U® 4170 as a non-invasive, pain-free acne treatment.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients will need a minimum of two blue light therapies per week for five weeks. A personalized consultation with the professionals at Dermacare San Diego will determine your exact needs. Your skin will be examined, and a treatment plan will be given to you so that you know what to expect during your journey to acne-free skin! Sometimes, depending on the extent of the acne, a full routine is needed, which may include blue light therapy, facials, laser treatments, and/or medical-grade topical products to treat acne.

Are There Any Risks?

It is advised that patients who use Accutane for their acne treatment refrain from BLU-U® 4170 therapy treatment. Besides that, proper eye protection must be worn at all times because if not, the light may lead to age-related macular degeneration. BLU-U® 4170 is FDA approved, non-invasive, and does not require any anesthesia during the treatment or downtime after the treatment.

Does Blue Light Therapy Treat Other Things?

Blue light therapy can be used for other skin concerns like psoriasis and eczema. Typically, men and women who suffer from these skin concerns have found comfort in sunlight, but, unfortunately, the sun has harmful rays. Blue light therapy can help manage the symptoms of psoriasis and eczema to bring temporary relief to people who experience these skin conditions.
