There are more than 20 injectables that have been approved by the FDA to enhance your facial appearance and make people look younger. Some of these injectables are meant to relax the muscles and reverse some of the signs of aging. Others are meant to fill in areas that have lost volume over time to make your skin look full and vibrant.

All of these injectables promise great results. But which one should you use? The answer depends on your needs and what you expect from the results. Here are the most common injectables and treatment areas that can help you achieve the fresh face you desire.

1. BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the most popular and trusted methods used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and create a smoother facial aesthetic. Made from botulinum toxin type A, BOTOX® Cosmetic temporarily relaxes the muscles in the treatment area and smooths out fine lines and wrinkles that have been created by repetitive facial expressions and movements.

  • Where Is BOTOX® Cosmetic Injected?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected in the muscles on the forehead, the frown lines between your brows, and the crow’s feet, which are the wrinkles that form around your eyes from squinting or smiling. BOTOX® may also be added to the jawline for a more sculpted appearance as it creates a heart-shaped face.

2. DYSPORT®

DYSPORT® is a type of injectable that is very similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic since it’s also a neuromodulator. Dysport® contains smaller molecules compared to BOTOX® Cosmetic, which makes it easier to diffuse once it’s injected. The onset is also quicker, which makes it a better solution for those looking for fast effects. However, since the formula is lighter, the solution may also be expelled quicker from the body.

  • Where Is DYSPORT® Injected?

DYSPORT® is injected into the upper half of the face. Most women and men use this injectable to smooth crow’s feet and frown lines, and it may also be used to reduce the wrinkles on the forehead.

Though BOTOX® Cosmetic and DYSPORT® are very similar and offer almost the same results, our master injectors at Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinics can help you determine which neuromodulator is best for your skin, your goals, and your desires.

3. JUVÉDERM®

JUVÉDERM® is one of the most popular dermal fillers on the market to add structure and lost volume to the skin. The JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers consists of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a substance that your body naturally produces to keep your skin plump and youthful. As the HA is added to the treatment areas, the hollowed areas, wrinkles, and folds on your skin will become less visible, restoring facial contours and improving signs of aging.

  • Where Is JUVÉDERM® Injected?

JUVÉDERM® is injected under the eyes, around the mouth, in the cheeks, and in the lips. These treatment areas provide a lifting and plumping effect, which ultimately smooths out the skin. The effects of JUVÉDERM® typically last six to 18 months, depending on which JUVÉDERM® product is used. Our aesthetic specialists will help you decide which JUVÉDERM® filler is best for you based on your desires.

4. Restylane®

Restylane® is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that is efficient in removing deeper wrinkles and lines. It adds volume to the treated areas of the face, creating a more youthful appearance.

  • Where Is Restylane® Injected?

Restylane® can be injected in areas where deep wrinkles are present. Most patients target the nose and mouth to reduce the signs of aging. This filler may also be used to reduce deeper wrinkles on the forehead. Restylane® is also FDA-approved to treat the lips to achieve a plump pout. Patients must be over 21 years old.

5. KYBELLA®

KYBELLA® is an injectable that can help you eliminate submental fullness (your chin), reducing the appearance of a double chin. It is a friendlier alternative to surgery, as it deactivates the fat cells and helps remove them naturally. The result will be a much slimmer-looking chin.

  • Where Is KYBELLA® Injected?

As previously mentioned, KYBELLA® is injected in the chin area and around the jawline. Over time, the targeted fat will be naturally eliminated from your body and you can see significant improvement after about one month. Complete results may take two to four KYBELLA® sessions, depending on how much excess fat is present.

6. RADIESSE®

RADIESSE® is a dermal filler made from calcium-based hydroxylapatite microspheres. This substance is a water-based gel that is used for facial contouring. It is not only useful for ensuring smooth skin but it also offers more support to the facial skin. RADIESSE® stimulates collagen production and offers a naturally lifted look and long-lasting results.

  • Where Is RADIESSE® Injected?

RADIESSE® is used to reduce the lines and wrinkles around the mouth. The filler can also be injected into your chin and along the jawline to offer more support to any sagging skin in the area. Additionally, RADIESSE® is often injected in the cheeks, as this area tends to become hollow with the passing years.
