This is a frequently asked question, during our initial consultations, when Juvederm treatments are a consideration. Without any numbing, the answer to this question is yes. Fortunately, there are several tricks we can use to make the experience virtually pain free. Earlier this year Allergan added lidocaine (same stuff the dentist uses) to Juvederm. We usually combine this with other tricks, such as icing, topical anesthetics and dental blocks, to ensure a nearly painless experience. For those of you who have not tried it, Juvederm is a gel like product that is used to correct deep lines and folds in the face. The most common areas treated are the nasal labial folds (smile lines from the outer nose around the corners of the mouth), marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth down to the chin) and lips. We can also use Juvederm around the eyes and in the cheek to improve the appearance of these areas. In the pre-procedure consultation, we will discuss which areas and what numbing options are best for you and come up with a plan tailored to your specific needs.
