Sculptra Aesthetic: The Next Generation of Dermal Fillers AT DERMACARE SAN DIEGO

Sculptra Aesthetic is a whole new type of dermal filler that offers subtle results over an extended period of time. The active ingredient in Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic version of lactic acid. This substance helps to replace lost collagen far beneath the skin’s surface, supporting the internal skin structure for a smoother, more youthful appearance. Unlike other dermal fillers that work nearly instantaneously, Sculptra’s results occur over time, so it actually looks like the clock is being slowly turned back on your skin.

How it Works

Sculptra Aesthetic is injected deeper beneath the surface of the dermis than other fillers, which allows it to provide more effective support to the underlying skin structure. Even as the Sculptra formula thickens the skin, it also stimulates the body’s own collagen for long-lasting support. Additional support to the skin’s foundation means gradual improvement to the appearance of the skin, including restoration of lost volume and smoothing away of fine lines and deeper facial creases.

The Sculptra Aesthetic procedure takes just a few minutes to complete and requires no downtime afterward. Because injections tend to be deeper than other types of injectable treatments, topical anesthetic is often applied prior to the procedure. The Sculptra formulation also contains lidocaine to make the procedure more comfortable.

What it Treats

Sculptra Aesthetic can be used to address a wide range of skin concerns caused by aging, including:

– Nasolabial folds (lines extending from the nose to the mouth)
– Marionette lines (creases that run from the mouth to the chin
– Vertical lines along the chin
– Smile lines (small creases in the corners of the mouth)
– Cheek hollows
– Loss of definition along the jawline
– Hollows in the temples

Sculptra Aesthetic is not recommended for forehead wrinkles or frown lines that appear between the eyebrows. It should also not be used around the eyes or on the lips. However, Sculptra can be combined with other injectable treatments, such as hyaluronic acid fillers or Botox to enhance overall results.

Is it Right for You?

Sculptra Aesthetic is an excellent option in dermal fillers for some patients, but it is not right for everyone. Results do take some time to appear, so patience is a must after these treatments. Sculptra also tends to be more expensive than other types of dermal fillers. However, many patients find Sculptra to be the best value since they can go much longer between treatments than other types of fillers.
