What is LifeSculpt?
LifeSculpt is a procedure to improve the cosmetic appearance of the body by selectively removing subcutaneous fat from key regions of the body, achieving results similar to traditional liposuction, Lifesculpt- Laser Assisted Body Contouring, doesn't just remove unwanted fat, the laser also provides skin tightening, reducing sagging and creating a smooth contoured surface.
Dermacare uses an advanced laser body sculpting system called SlimLipo, which features a unique fat "melting" laser that gently liquefies fat. Through a few tiny incisions, the liquefied fat is then permanently removed from the body with a medical suction device. Additionally, the laser is also effective in causing small blood vessels to coagulate immediately reducing bleeding, swelling and bruising. Because of the small size of the fiber optic tip, laser-assisted liposuction has become the standard for treating a greater number of hard to reach areas of the body. Because LifeSculpt is gently on the body, we use only local anesthesia, allowing you to stay awake and quickly resume your normal daily activates. The SlimLipo laser used in the LifeSculpt procedure is cleared at the FDA for laser-assisted lipolysis.
What are the advantages of LifeSculpt vs. traditional liposuction?
- More even and smooth result.
- Less pain, less bruising, and quicker recovery.
- Better skin tightening and less loose skin after.
- Smaller scars, less trauma and quicker recover.
- Local not general anesthesia means less risk
How is LifeSculpt treatment performed?
Prior to a treatment, the patient has a consultation with the physician to determine whether you are a good safe candidate for the procedure. On the day of the procedure the treatment area is marked and pictures are taken. In some cases, the patient will be provided with a mild sedative to make the experience more comfortable. After local numbing is done at the predetermined sites, small, concealable incisions are made. Through these openings, 3 different cannula's (long narrow tube) will be inserted and used. The first step is to infuse a dilute anesthetic fluid throughout the area of concern. The second cannula is for the laser, which liquefies the fat in the targeted area. Finally, the melted fat is eliminated through a medical suction device.
How long is the recovery?
Typically, the recovery time is a fraction of that of traditional liposuction. Most procedures will take one to three hours, and patients go home the same day. Following the LifeSculpt treatment patients usually experience bruising, swelling, and slight discomfort. Patients may need to wear a compression garment for a few days to reduce the side effects. Work can usually be resumed the second day after the procedure, but strenuous activity should be postponed for a week or two after the procedure. Overall, recovery is moderately short and painless.
What risk may be associated with LifeSculpt?
Any medical procedure carries a degree of risk, and LifeSculpt is no exception. However, the less invasive method reduces much of the risk normally associated with traditional liposuction. The most common risks include infection, bleeding, swelling, bruising, and discomfort. In rare cases, irregular skin contours or pigmentation can occur. Even rarer are life-threatening complications such as blood clots and heart complications.
Are all laser assisted liposuction technologies equal?
All laser liposuction machines are not equal. You need to understand the importance of the laser wavelength used to melt fat. Most laser liposuction machines on the market today use a 1064nm or 1320nm laser wavelength (e.q SmartLipo). Actually the best wavelength, which is most highly absorbed by fat, is 925nm.
Dermacare works only with Palomar's SlimLipo technology which is the first 925nm based laser liposuction and is 5 times as selectively absorbed by fat as the 1064nm laser and 3 times more than the 1320nm- the other commercially available laser liposuction technology. I is also 5 times as selectively absorbed by blood. This means that the LifeSculpt laser liposuction unit dissolves fat and prevents bleeding much more effectively than any other laser liposuction machine available.
What do I do Next?
